Whole30 Part Deux - For Real This Time: Day 4

Day 4.  According to the timeline, it's KILL ALL THE THINGS.  I'm not there yet.  Still feeling not good.  There's not necessarily one thing to point out, just an overall not great.  I'll have to go to the store either tonight or tomorrow as we're just about out of food.  It means we're using it all though, so that's good news.  I have that roast I keep meaning to put in the crockpot but haven't had the time to prep it.  That's the thing about the crockpot for me; I don't have time in the mornings to prep and throw the stuff in there.  In theory, it's a great idea to have a full, fresh, homemade meal waiting when you get home.. it just doesn't always work out for me.  Since I wasn't feeling very bueno last night, I didn't prep a frittata for husband and I to have this morning.  I had M chop up some mushrooms and spinach that I threw in some containers with three cracked eggs to microwave when we each got to our respective works.

Meal 1
8:15 am:    Three microwaved eggs scrambled with mushrooms and spinach, covered in Cholula, half a sweet potato, coffee and coconut milk.

There were breakfast burritos at work, and I so wanted one.  I'm tired though, which is definitely a trigger for me.  I made my breakfast though and soon forgot about the burritos.  I'm so glad I didn't cave (now).

I'm not working out today.  I need a recovery day.  My body hurts!

Mini Meal
12:00 pm:    Apple with almond butter.

Meal 2
3:30 pm:    Butternut squash with two pieces of deli turkey.

Work had the monthly cake celebration today.  Wow, I wanted that.  I even talked it over with Husband.  He told me to go ahead.  I had my meal 2 above, instead.

Meal 3
Beef chuck roast, carrots, and steamed broccoli

Whole30 Part Deux - For Real This Time: Day 3

So I woke up feeling a little lightheaded and my stomach was pretty uneasy.  After a rough start this morning for a variety of reasons, I finally made it to work, where I could eat.  I felt much better.  Husband is trying his best to eat only compliant things, but he isn't drinking compliant things (bottled raspberry ice tea, flavored gas station coffee).  I won't get the full effect of the Whole30, but I'm hoping his changes in food will show up with some positive changes in his body.  M is already completely off, except for what I put on the table for dinner.  We also removed just about every non-compliant thing from the house.  School is the problem.  She has a pizza party on Thursday, so I suggested that Friday could be her day 1.  She agreed.  We'll see how it goes.

Meal 1
9:15 am:    Slice of egg frittata and 1/2 of a sweet potato, coffee with coconut milk

Pre-workout
1:00 am:    Banana
12:00 pm:    Avocado

12:45 pm Weight training; today was shoulder and back day since I can barely walk from squats on Monday and Tuesday

Meal 2 and post-workout
2:00 pm:    Leftover lemon and garlic chicken and butternut squash.

3:30 pm:    Apple (I really want something sweet.. like chocolate candy or cookies.  STAY STRONG!)

8:00 pm:    Taco seasoned ground beef, poached egg, red bell pepper slices, avocado slices, and some homemade salsa

On my way home, I felt like I was coming down with something.  Not sure if it's just my body readjusting or if I'm really getting sick.

Whole30 Part Deux - For Real This Time: Day 2

Husband met me at the grocery store, well Whole Paycheck, last night.  We actually managed to keep it just over $100, which I'm hoping will last us through the week.  My "secret" (ha!) is to buy a couple of quality meats or seafood that is on sale.  We already have chicken breasts in the fridge, so last nights trip involved the purchase of an almost 5 lb beef chuck roast.  Half of it will see the crockpot this week.

Here's what I put in my mouth today.

Meal 1
8:00 am:    1/2 Sweet potato, a 'slice' of egg frittata, coffee with coconut milk, and water.

10:00 am:    Banana

Pre-Workout
11:15 am:    4 oz can of tuna with an avocado

12:15 pm:    Cardio Bootcamp

Post-Workout
1:20 pm:    Applegate Chicken & Apple sausage

Meal 2
3:30 pm:    Leftover spaghetti squash, chicken and sauce

6:00 pm:    Handful of veggie chips

6-8 pm:    A few pistachios here and there

Meal 3
8:00 pm:    Garlic Lemon chicken breast tenders and steamed yellow squash and zucchini.  Everyone ate up the chicken.

Whole30 Part Deux - For Real This Time: Day 1

So my 2nd Whole30 didn't pan out so well.  I was doing it to support my mother's first Whole30 instead of doing it for me.  This time, it's for me again.  I've attempted to get my entire family on board, however, I don't see that happening the way I'd like it to. Deep breath.... and... let go.  I've really been eating terribly and have put on a few pounds.  Plus all the ailments mentioned in my previous post.  I can't wait for those pounds to come off, to have a level head, happy demeanor, and for my nose not to be constantly running.  I don't think the next 30 days will be the difficult part.  I've done it before; I know I can do it again.  The hard part is afterwards.  Figuring out how to balance clean, paleo eating with every day life.  I'll need to re-intro properly this time.  No Vegas In-N-Out cheeseburger with fries and a chocolate milkshake bender as my first post Whole30 meal (hello grains, dairy, and sugar scarfed down in a matter of minutes!).

This is an effort to track my journey, progress, and show you what I eat and how I manage it with 3 kids and a full-time job.  Without further adieu....

Yesterday, I baked 3 sweet potatoes, made two egg frittatas with mushrooms, green peppers, and orange peppers, cooked a spaghetti squash and a butternut squash, browned two pounds of ground beef, marinated and pan seared/fried chicken, and made a sauce to accompany the chicken (I left out the chili pepper and cayenne pepper). I also made some beautiful, creamy almond butter in my new Ninja.  Oh yes, and I made some No Otmeal for the girls to have this morning.  This was an all day effort, mixed in with playoffs (GO BRONCOS!!!!) and toddler wrangling and nursing (WHY WON'T EITHER OF YOU WEAN ALREADY!).  I had it all under control in the morning, feeling pretty good about myself; however, by the time the evening rolled around I was an overwhelmed mess.  I'll need to figure out how to manage that better.  I think once I'm in a better state of mind, things will come a little easier.

Meal 1
8:00 am:    1/2 Sweet potato, a 'slice' of egg frittata, coffee with coconut milk, and water.  (As before, this will be predictable every morning)

Pre-Workout
10:30 am:    Avocado
11:00 am:    Applegate Chicken and Apple Sausage

12 pm:    Gauntlet Workout at the gym.  Weighed myself - 126.  Bad news.

1:30 pm:    Leftover spaghetti squash, chicken and sauce.

3:30 pm:  STARVING.  Other slice of egg frittata.  Thank God I brought it.  Also, my nose has already stopped running.

6:00 pm:    Banana with almond butter.

8:00 pm:    Sloppy Joes with a lettuce wrap and butternut squash on the side.  The sloppy joe recipe was delicious.  The whole family thought so!  That was a win since M&M both did not make it through day 1.  Oh well, I'll keep on trucking.

I made another egg frittata tonight while making dinner.  Both were super easy and quick.
